(2008-11-10) Obama Net Policy
Doc Searls says he heard that Barack Obama's team is looking for some Internet-policy input, immediately.
Doc floats his recent "Forward with Fiber" (FTTH) paper.
My recommendations
- don't screw up the good moves made with Analog Tv White Spaces - support Open Spectrum.
- fire whoever supported the Analog Tv Spectrum Auction (instead of keeping that spectrum free/open/public).
- Tom Evslin on the importance of the FCC appointment.
- Nov14: Kevin Werbach and Susan Crawford will be part of the transition-plan team. Marc Canter isn't impressed.
- don't spur unique/proprietary Public Safety networks: build on top of existing Open Spectrum.
- kill DRM, Broadcast Flag, etc.: or at least don't let the government buy anything that uses it
- get some people, including Larry Lessig, into a productive conversation about Intellectual Property. Don't follow Joe Biden's history of siding with the industry instead of the consumers.
Update: site for Crowd Sourcing priorities for his CTO (assuming he creates such a position). Spin-off of ChangeGov.
