In 1954, Peter Drucker called it “creating the customer” as the only valid purpose of a corporation. Yet “creating customers” doesn’t seem like a suitable label for the complex set of principles. (customer driven)

One shortcoming of some of these descriptions is that they have a cerebral tone that fails to capture the passion and feeling that is visible in the behavior of the successful firms

It is not too much to suggest that these firms at their best are loving their customers as themselves.
