(2026-09-09) Browsers starting to fully block non-SSL sites?

Are web Browsers starting to fully block non-SSL sites?

Sean Murphy had issues hitting a page linked in a twitter post

• I found that the URL shortener t.co is rewriting to point at https
  • my server doesn't redirect, which it probably should (but I want to move entirely, so not dealing with that).
• older tweet-links (Aug22) still work

My MacBookPro Chrome and Safari and Firefox hit it fine, but is that because of settings I've changed?

My Android Chrome and Firefox hit it fine.

My ChromeBook Chrome does not hit it - I can see that even if I manually edit the URL to drop the s it just changes it back. I checked that "always use encrypted" is turned off, and that there was no site-specific rule set up to require it. I even restarted, and that didn't help.

• it will hit the little RandomPage web server running on my MacBookPro which isn't running SSL, but maybe that's a special case? ((2025-08-06) Random ToRead Paragraph app)
