Dementia
Dementia is the general name for a decline in cognitive abilities that impacts a person's ability to perform everyday activities. This typically involves problems with memory, thinking, and behavior. Aside from memory impairment and a disruption in thought patterns, the most common symptoms include emotional problems, difficulties with language, and decreased motivation... Several diseases and injuries to the brain such as a stroke can give rise to dementia. However, the most common cause is Alzheimer's disease, a neurodegenerative disorder. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dementia
Jul'2024: Dementia prevention, intervention, and care: 2024 report of the Lancet standing Commission. New evidence supports adding vision loss and high cholesterol as potentially modifiable risk factors for dementia to the 12 risk factors identified in our 2020 Lancet Commission (ie, less education, head injury, physical inactivity, smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, hypertension, obesity, diabetes, hearing loss, depression, infrequent social contact, and air pollution). Modifying 14 risk factors might prevent or delay nearly half of dementia cases.
