SCQOD

my version of a hybrid of SCQA and a pattern template

Elements become:

  • Situation/Context
  • Complications/Forces/Claims
  • Questions
  • (the 3 sections above add up to a one-pager)
  • Options (you could end up with a separate one-pager (or more) for each Option)
  • this is not a final document that gets presented, but the start of a working session where we:
  • refine the sections from above, including generating additional Options
  • make a pros-and-cons table of the options to make trade-offs clear
    • sometimes I add columns to the table for different dimensions/criteria, and fill cells with A/B/C ratings
  • sort the table rows so the most promising options are further up
  • and then Decide on Next Action - which could be a decision (picking an Option), could involve refining some ideas off-line, or running some experiments, or talking to customers.... then coming back for closure.
