Delegative Democracy

Delegative democracy is a form of democratic control whereby voting power is vested in delegates, rather than representatives. This term is a generic description of either already existing or proposed popular control apparatuses. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delegative_democracy

contrast to: Direct Democracy, Representative Democracy

There's an interesting description of a Delegative Democracy in L Neil Smith's Probability Broach alternate-Earth. Each person has voting power, but can delegate it moment by moment, issue by issue, to anyone else.

The Pirate Party uses LiquidFeedback software to implement this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LiquidFeedback
